Hi. I’m Natalie, founder of Messy Mom.
I am so glad you are here. Check out this video to find out what Messy Mom is all about!
For now my family of 6 lives in a small space in Cincinnati Ohio. It can certainly get interesting with my crazy messy clan.

Let me introduce you to them.

J and I have been married for 16 years. He was a worship leader when I met him and for the first 10 years of our marriage, but he recently transitioned into a computer programming career. He is also very handy and creative. He’s always repurposing or building something.

Z is my oldest and is in 3rd grade. He has had glasses since he was 15 months old and he fits the stereotype of cute little guy in glasses (he’s a smarty pants).

SJ is in 1st grade and goes to a special school for the deaf. We learned about her hearing loss when she was two years old. I write a lot about our journey with cochlear implants here on messymom.com .

Ezie is my rough and tough 4 year old. I get to hang out with him all day while the big kids are in school. I would say the best way to describe him is ALL BOY.

Elle is the baby of the family. She was so excited to enter the world that she was born in the van on the way to the hospital. I call it the grand finale.
I cannot conclude this introduction without mentioning that Jesus is my life. He is the reason I can make sense of anything and the grace for the times I feel like I can’t.
What I’ve learned from motherhood in these first 9 years is that it can be scary, funny, beautiful, tiring, and yes messy, but I am grateful for every single bit of it. Thanks for stopping by my messy little blog. Please let me know you were here and if there is anything I can do for you. I LOVE community, even the virtual kind. Let’s encourage each other as our stories unfold.
Cute fam!
Hi, I just googled ‘messy mum’ ‘cos God’s been speaking to me about my daily mess and bringing it to Him. I wanted to see what was out there and found you! Loved your video. Was trying to subscribe but couldn’t get the link to work or is there somewhere else on your site to do so? Love
Oh no. I am so glad you contacted me. I would love to encourage each other alone the way as we seek Him in the midst of our messes. I am sorry about the subscribe button. Someone else mentioned that it was not working and I really needed to get on my IT department (my husband, ha ha) about that. In the mean time if you are on Facebook I always post on there. I’ll get back to you when it is fixed!
Natalie, I’m sorry we missed you all that Christmas eve service. You are a blessing and loved seeing the blessing God has give the two of you. You are not alone in feeling the need for control, all of us moms do. My only control is in Christ. Love to see you and the family when you come again.
Re: laminate flooring over carpet. What thickness OSB did you use?
Sorry for the delay, the thickness was 3/8. A little less than 1/2 an inch.
Hello my name is Deb, I am a mother of 5 and have 2 step sons. I enjoyed reading your story of SJ getting her upgraded CI. My youngest daughter is 12 and has had her CI nucleus 5 since she was 3 and is finally after 9 years getting upgraded to the nucleus 7. We are so excited and can’t wait for it to get here. Our story is slightly different tho. We didn’t have to struggle to get her to wear her CI but she was diagnosed very early. She failed her hearing test at birth and by time she 6 months old she had hearing aids. Then we had to fight to get her a cochlear but the day they turned it on was amazing. In the office she didn’t even react after they turned it on she just followed what she was suppose to do but as we left there was a fountain and she stopped and started looking everywhere with this look of amazement on her face it too me several minutes to figure out that she was hearing the water. Within weeks words were coming and she didn’t have any before that but all of sudden words and then sentences I couldn’t believe it. Since then she has worked so very hard to go from 3 years behind all children her age to ahead of lots of kids her age. Her teachers always describe her as there most self advocating child. She loves to learn, read and omg she loves to talk. She makes me proud everyday she is an amazing young lady. God only gives us what we can handle and clearly God knew these young ladies could not only handle being deaf but can do so much more than that.
Wow. Thank you for sharing your story with me, that is remarkable. I am so glad she is finally able to upgrade. We recently had to have the external processor replaced on the N7, but it was totally covered under the warranty and they did overnight shipping so it came super fast.
Hi !
I just found you website. My daughter is 3 and a half and has speech delay. She does speaks and understands, but her sentences are very short and her words aren’t clear, besides she is bilingual and mixes all. I was looking into making some diy picture books and I found your “experience books” great idea ! I will start on doing those today.
Blessings from San Antonio TX.
That’s wonderful. My 11 year old just had a birthday and we had her experience books on display at the party. Not only are they great learning tools, but they are precious memories to us now. I loved showing them to our friends and explaining how far she has come!
